Multimodal 2014 breaking Records

With 290 exhibitors and more than 25 seminars, Multimodal 2014 was the right opportunity to understand a bit more of supply chain, freight transport and logistics sector.According to the organisers, over 7100 visitors tracked down to NEC to check the exhibition this year.

Important subjects were debated during the three days of event. Such as the new UN code of practice requiring container weights to be verified before shipping that will take place next year and that under the new regulation, boxes will have to be weighed and verified before loading.

Another highlighted discussion was Click and Collect and Reverse Logistics seminar which professionals of the fulfillment area presented the impressive figures of this constantly in expansion market.

A real display of freight transport services were also very popular at Multimodal with several lorries placed inside the National Exhibition Centre.

And the Direct Rail Services brought a very modern locomotive from the train tracks to Birmingham.

Investments and other announcements:

The Port of Tyne announced a new shipping service to Russia and Seago Line, one of the world’s largest short-sea container operators will facilitate the route. The new service will increase container exports at the Port of Tyne in approximately 50%.

While DB Schenker Rail UK has also announced new destinations from the London Gateway port, starting from this month, with trains serving not only Manchester and Daventry, but also Wakefield and South Wales.

Multimodal 2015 will take place from the 28th to the 30th April 2015 at the Birmingham NEC.
