Innovative e-commerce leader moves ahead with expansion into the number one e-commerce market in Europe
PrestaShop, an industry leader in open source solutions for e-commerce, announces plans to expand into the UK e-commerce market. These plans include recruiting a country manager who will be based in the UK and responsible for local business development. PrestaShop currently has business operations in the US, France, Benelux and Spain.
E-commerce is the fastest growing retail market in Europe. For 2014, it’s forecasted that£107 billion will be spent online, just in the UK. According to the UK Government’s Trade & Investment Group, Britain’s 228,000 online retailers export more than the rest of Europe’s e-retailers put together and UK consumers spend more online per head than any other country.
“We have the most dynamic e-commerce solution in the market, a freemium business
model, several very strong local partners, and a very healthy user base in the UK. Having a country manager in the region will enable us to strengthen those relationships and expand our business opportunities,” said Benjamin Teszner, CEO of PrestaShop.“We’re looking for people with a passion for internet technology, an entrepreneurial spirit and the experience needed to conduct international business development on behalf of PrestaShop,” said Fiona Cohen, PrestaShop’s Recruitment Manager.
PrestaShop has one of the world’s largest open source development communities
exclusively dedicated to e-commerce technology. With more than 700,000 members
located all over the world, the community is exceptionally active and includes a mix of
merchants, developers, web agencies and industry partners. Since 2007, PrestaShop’s open source software has been downloaded more than 4 million times. There are currently 200,000 stores running on PrestaShop technology.
