Sherlock Holmes’s famous address
No doubt one of the most famous addresses in the world, 221b Baker Street is the house where the great detective Sherlock Holmes and his friend Dr Watson lived for nearly 25 years. Whether or not you like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous character, this address has been visited by thousands of people around the world since it was opened to the public in 1990.
The gorgeous Victorian house, near Regent’s Park, is an exciting experience for families, children or anyone interested in one of the most important characters of English literature. The three-floor house was built in 1815 and even though it’s not at the exact address mentioned in Conan Doyle’s books, Sherlock Holmes Museum can bring a bit of the detective’s world to the imagination of anyone visiting it, anyway.
Plenty of waxworks, familiar objects mentioned in Holmes’s stories and some furniture also help to recreate the whole atmosphere. For those who are experts in Sherlock Holmes, a collection of photographs, paintings and newspapers from the period is also part of the museum’s memorabilia.

“Elementary, Mr. Dear Watson” the museum is very popular during any period of the year, so expect to have to share the three floors of the house with many other tourists.
A very cosy shop is located on the ground floor of 221b Baker Street address and for only £ 6 (adult) and £4 (children under 16 years old), you can indulge yourself with the fascinating life and story of Sherlock Holmes. Don’t forget to take a photo with the policeman who welcomes tourists at the museum and shop entrance. He’s probably one of the most famous and nicest bobbies in London town.
