I like spending the summer holidays in secluded fish villages or somewhere in the countryside where you can see the stars when it’s pitch black. No, not a summer resort kind of person here. But, this summer we had my parents around.
So, we agreed to go somewhere by sea that didn`t include hilly roads and had a bit of a shop and things to do than just explore nature. Let’s say something more family-oriented.
Saundersfoot was my husband’s idea. He is familiar with this tiny holiday spot at Pembrokeshire. Looking for properties in the area we found a perfect two-bedroom cottage with a stunning view of the sea that could be an ideal accommodation for the four of us.
The idea was to stay in a place where my parents could go for a walk without feeling lost. Or needed to ask for information, as they don`t speak English. They could also have a taste of how British holiday resorts are popular during this time of the year. I think we got it to spot on.
Saundersfoot is a fishing village located in the heart of Pembrokeshire, West Wales. Our accommodation is located in the main street of the village, next to a pub, and also surrounded by shops, restaurants, and even a supermarket around the corner.
The flat is quite spacious. The property is split into two flats. Ours was on the second floor accessible by one flight of steps. It’s an old house that was converted into a modern flat. The creaky wooden floors and the slightly crooked house reminds us, that it’s a charming old cottage.
At the first glance, it works perfectly for four people. The main room with a view of the sea is delightful. It was the bedroom chosen to accommodate my parents. It’s equipped even with an in-room sink.
We don’t have access to the back garden, which I thought would be amazing if we did. But it does not change the fact the sandy beach is at our doorstep. Literally.
From this room, we can see the pub’s next-door beer garden. Yes, it can be a little bit noisy, as you can imagine. But live music always stops in reasonable hours and this is what you would expect from a property next to a pub, anyways. So, if you don’t tolerate loud music and chit-chat, this is not the right Airbnb for you.
On the other hand, it seems just right to have a pub next door when you decided to have some casual drinks or a meal out.
There were plenty of bed linen and towels available and even in the hottest months, the place is quite well ventilated.
The living room is also spacious and has a well-equipped kitchenette with a microwave, oven, and all necessary kitchenware.
A TV set, foldable dining room, and comfortable sofa set complete the cosy ambient. As our stay was during the world cup, it was just right to relax with a beer (or two) watching the matches after a stroll at the beach.
The second bedroom has twin beds. They are also comfortable, and you may use the fan available to make the room more ventilated.
This is a perfect room for kids and I noticed more bed linen and duvets available in the wardrobe. No noise coming from outside was disturbing and I had good nights of sleep there even with my window facing the busy high street.
The bathroom has a shower above the bathtub and also a nice view of the beach.
Overall, the experience was all positive. It’s a nice accommodation to go for when staying in a popular resort such as Saundersfoot. It is within walking distance of the shops and restaurants in the village. It also offers a parking permit to be used in local car parks.
Something to be considered when visiting such a popular spot. Communication with the host was easy and effective. We had even an extended time to check out. I would go back to explore the area and footpaths around. Pembrokeshire is a beautiful destination for families and adventures.
