12 Hairstyles & Makeup Looks Perfect For The British Summer

The heat is already cranking up in the UK, and your hair should be ready for it. You need hairstyles and makeup looks that can withstand hot and humid weather. From crown braids to beach waves, we have your new summer hairstyles.

Whether you have short or long hair, highlights or your natural color, check out these easy summer ideas. But that’s not all, your makeup look should complement your overall appearance, whether you’re opting for a glam eye with fluffy lashes or a simple pop of pigment, you should try our favourite looks.

1- Braided Mohawk: Chances are, if it’s humid, then it’s pretty hot outside. The last thing you want to do is wear your hair down, so why not switch things up with a braided mohawk?

This look is perfect for festival season too, party all night and your hair will still be intact.

Why not match your rad hairdo with a groovy makeup look. We love the Flamingo palette from Lick and Lash is the perfect festival eyeshadow palette; inspired by Flamingo Beach in Aruba this gorgeous palette contains 14 super pigmented mattes, 8 buttery shimmers and 2 duo-chrome shadows.

2- Scarf Updo: The easiest way to fight the humidity is to throw your hair up into a bun and add a scarf to cover up the frizz.

The silk scarf covers your frizzy ends and tames those baby hairs. Match up your entire look by incorporating the colour of your scarf into your makeup look. Going for a chic red satin wrap?

Why not add a pop of red on your lips to match. If you are struggling to do the up-do yourself, simply pop into your local salon and book a quick appointment for them to twist up your look.

3-Rolled Updo: If you’re in the mood for something that’s a little more put-together, try a rolled updo. Bonus: It’s quick and easy so you don’t have to worry about waking up extra early in the morning to accomplish this style.

Compliment this boho look with a natural makeup look, use autumnal colours like plum, purple and pink shadows to bring it to life. We love this summer eyeshadow palette.

4-Twisted Crown Braid: There is nothing worse than being outside on a hot day and your fringe starts to stick to your forehead.

Pull your hair away from your face by wearing a twisted crown braid. Simply rope braid both sides of your hair to the back of your head and secure with a bobby pin. Too cute! Match this cute look with some flirtatious lashes

5- Headband + Bun: Baby hairs can go extra wild on a humid day. Toss your hair into a messy bun and add a headband (or two!) for a look that’s not only totally adorable but also keeps those baby hairs at bay. Top off your look and dazzle your friends with some popping highlighter that will really blind them.

6-Messy Pony: Um, this might be the easiest look of them all. Give your tresses a slight tease and secure them with an elastic band. Really, it’s that easy! Achieve that summer look with some rocking earrings to bring the look together.

7-Simple Fishtail Braid: There’s nothing wrong with keeping it simple. Try this side fishtail braid for a day when your hair just can’t be bothered. If you want to really make it something for the summer, add some daisies or beads into the twist.

8-Braided Headband: Why do we love this ‘do? Because you still get to wear your hair down, but your bangs are pulled back, there’s no need to worry about combining them or keeping them out of your face all day.

9-Natural Topknot: Wrap your hair up in a giant top knot, because why not? Oh, and adding a fun statement necklace is never a bad thing. Top off your look with some dramatic mink eyelashes and you are ready to rock and roll.

10-Flower Braid + Low Pony: The flower braid: Sounds super complex, but it’s actually really easy to achieve. Pull your hair into a half-pony, braid and roll the hair around the base of the pony. Secure with bobby pins and hairspray and you’re good to go. If you are not good at braiding, your local hairdressers will be able to sit you in the chair and create your look for you.

11-Wear a Hat: Okay, sometimes you just can’t fight the frizz at all, in which case, cover it up with a hat. It doesn’t hurt to match your hat colour to your eye shadow to really bring the look together.

12-Leave It Down: Lastly, why not just embrace the curls? Play up your natural tresses and own the #bighairdontcare. If you need to trim your ends into place, get some professional hairdressing scissors and don’t be shy.
