5 reasons you will fall in love with Italy

Italy is among the most popular tourist destinations in the world. It has a unique character that’s recognised universally, but it isn’t a one-trick-pony: there’s an aspect of Italian life that will appeal to just about everyone. Let’s explore some of its best features.

Food

Italian cuisine has been exported to just about everywhere in the Western world. Staples like lasagne, pizza, and tagliatelle carbonara should be familiar to, if not beloved by, just about everyone reading this.

Over the centuries, Italians have travelled to every corner of the globe, and taken their distinctive cuisine with them. But as food travels from place to place, it inevitably is adapted to suit the tastes of the locals.

Therefore, the versions of these dishes that you’re familiar with might differ greatly from what you might expect in Italy.

If you love pizza, then you owe it to yourself to head to Naples and sample a slice of the genuine article. Italians are notorious for being purists when it comes to their foods. To find out what the real deal actually tastes like, why not get it from the source?

Fashion

Italy is home to some of the world’s most prestigious designer labels, many of whom are to be found in Milan.

Milan Fashion Week reliably draws the eyes of the fashion world. Therefore, a visit there is likely to appeal to everyone with an interest in looking fabulous.

Of course, to blend into these stylish surroundings, you’ll need to pack suitably – but there’s no need to bring everything. Go for a few choice items, including a reliable handbag that matches with the rest of your wardrobe.

Lifestyle

Italians are, stereotypically, an uncompromising and passionate people. And it’s this part of their character that makes Italy what it is today.

With that said, the locals are also welcoming and friendly, especially in parts of the country that rely on tourism. They’re keen to welcome new arrivals to make them feel at home, especially if you decide to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city centres.

Art

Thanks to Italy’s long history, the country is home to some of the world’s most famous masterworks. Some of the greatest artists ever to live hailed from this part of the word, including Michelangelo, Leonardo, Donatello, and Raphael.

Many of their most famous works are to be found in Rome, but you’ll also find paintings, frescoes, and sculptures elsewhere in the country.

The Sistine Chapel is an obvious must-see, but there are others which don’t draw nearly as much tourist traffic, and which are sure to appeal to everyone with a passion for art and artistry.

History

Italy is, obviously, famous for being the home of the Roman Empire. Many of the famous buildings and landmarks dating from that period deservedly draw considerable attention.

But they’re not the only destinations worth your time. The leaning tower of Pisa, St. Marks Basilica in Venice, and Pompeii should all be considered!
