What Makes a Good Road Trip Car?

Road trips are becoming increasingly more popular and a great type of holiday in the current climate – with international travel restrictions still in place for much of the world. Plus, there are fantastic places for road trips both in the UK and all over Europe.

A few of the most popular road trips in the UK include the North Coast 500 in Scotland, the Atlantic Highway, the Road to the Isles, and the Causeway Coastal Route along with many others.

Benefits of Road Trips

There are many benefits to a road trip, including the ability to travel privately, having complete control, freedom, and independence, and being able to visit many different places on one trip.

In order for a road trip to be a success, it is vital that you have a vehicle that is up to the task. Here are a few of the key features and traits that are essential for a good road trip car.

Comfort

You will be spending many hours at a time sitting in the car either behind the wheel or as a passenger and this can take its toll in a car that is uncomfortable.

Space is obviously important, along with having a high-quality interior and comfortable seats so that people can sleep when not driving. You get what you pay for when it comes to comfort in a car, so high-end brands will always be a good choice for a road trip.

Fuel Economy

Perhaps most important is having a vehicle that is fuel-efficient as you will be racking up the miles, especially on longer routes like the North Coast 500. Having a car with a decent fuel economy will save you money, reduce the number of stops you’ll need to make, and will be better for the environment.

Entertainment

Even on a road trip travelling through magnificent landscapes, you will still want entertainment to keep yourself and your passengers occupied, particularly on less glamorous stretches of the road trip.

Therefore, a car with good connectivity and a high-quality sound system can make a big difference to the enjoyment of your trip.

Luggage Space

There also needs to be plenty of luggage space so that you can easily fit everything that you need in the car, while still having plenty of interior space for a comfortable ride.

You will not have a good trip if passengers have to have bags on their laps, so you need a car with a big boot (and try to leave the non-essentials behind).

These are the main features and traits of a great road trip car. A road trip is a fantastic way to vacation and there are many terrific road trips both in the UK and throughout Europe. However, for the trip to be fun, comfortable, and worthwhile, you need to have the right car to rely on.
