Ways to Upgrade Your Weekend Away

We love to travel, start planning it for months, script it and even dream about it. But it doesn’t matter how many steps we take to make it as smooth as possible, there is always something else that still needs to be done. The task of making your holiday run smoothly can be a bit tricky, but it doesn’t depend only on where you go. Thinking about it, I have put together some tips to make your travels more enjoyable and help you to arrive at your destination ready to make the most of it.

Entertain Yourself

Plan what you want to do in terms of entertainment. If you don’t like reading, so don’t take a book. Take things you like. Get to know yourself!

Long journeys seem endless if we have nothing to do. But the most important thing is to optimise the space of what you’re going to take. For example, if you like to read, it’s worth taking a tablet or e-reader instead of three books.

For me, the essential items to stay comfortable on a flight are always the same – my own pair of headphones, books, a face mask, as well as my smartphone – that will guarantee access to all my favourite entertainment things such as music, e-book, video streaming, etc.

Other nice suggestions are colouring books, a diary, and a notebook to keep your thoughts and notes.

Think about Comfort

Provide your comfort. To start with, you can choose to travel in style in first class or rent a nice car for a long road trip. The important is always to make the most of the whole experience.

Wear a very comfortable outfit. When we travel, we sometimes are in movement for long hours. I like to travel in sneakers and comfortable footwear like slippers. Remember that less can be always more.

Your favourite clothes will be the best investment on your trips. And if you fancy wearing something more special, take a piece (or two) that can stand out and make a difference in your outfits.

Look After Yourself

Take care of your health. It may sound cliché, but we can’t enjoy ourselves if our body and mind are not connected. So, take with you items and tools that can be essential for keeping your body and mind healthy. It can be a pair of trainers for quick jogging when travelling or a yoga mat to energise your mornings.

Way before pandemic times, I also always carried a bottle of alcohol gel to keep my hands cleaned wherever I go. I think the tissue pack is always handy because you never know when you’re going to spill juice on your clothes or on the plane’s desk. Eating healthy is also a good alternative when flying. Everything you don’t need is feeling bloated during a long travel journey.

Optimise your Time

Allocate the time. Try to plan what you intend to do during the trip so that you can schedule yourself. Plan carefully the itinerary that you want to follow, but also leave a window for unpredictable occurrences.

I remember planning my first trip to New York with things that we would like to do during the nine days we spent there, but we have changed plans to make our trip more flexible and it perfectly worked this way.

The most important thing to remember is to enjoy yourself. And you don’t need to tick several boxes when travelling. Just the ones that you feel like ticking.

Think Cosy

The comfort makes your journey more pleasant. But it can be different from person to person. So, if your idea of a comfortable trip is related to a cosy hotel room, go for it.

If you feel fine glamping, just choose the best spot for doing it. When thinking of accessories, pillows and specific accessories for travel comfort are also very welcome. No need to worry so much. With organisation, your holiday can be the most enjoyable one. Get ready for fun and good times. Good trip!
