Classic Cottage in the North Pennines | Cumbria

When we think about the best Airbnb for a cosy getaway, we also think about the location. I guess going to Cumbria after a quite tough lockdown, was exactly what we needed as a perfect staycation spot.

Also, we picked the North Pennines because it was a region that we have never been to on holidays. Lucky us, we are spoiled for choices when it comes to nice and cosy accommodations around the country.

North Pennines is a great place for outdoor activities and exploring historic towns and villages. So, it’s always great to find a cosy Airbnb in the middle of nowhere to relax after a long stroll in the countryside. I can tell you we once again, got it right.

Our Airbnb was placed outside the tiny village of Garrigill. A region surrounded by exuberant nature and with the enchanting climate from the North Pennines. a perfect spot to find every comfort to enjoy the beautiful view.

This gorgeous cottage is part of a converted barn/dairy dating from around 1700, this bed annexe is separated from the host’s home. Entering the property, you will instantly see the character and history of this building, there are exposed stone walls and beams.

It’s indeed a rustic cottage – with a lot of wood – which helps to create a stunning setting. An accommodation that is extremely comfortable and privileged by an incredible landscape.

Thus, the environment is perfect for those looking for a simple and comfortable place to enjoy nature. I loved the external area that has access to the footpath that takes you straight to the waterfalls nearby.

The spacious lounge and an open kitchen fully equipped made this area a lovely space to cook cosy meals and watch films, listen to music and relax. The wood-burning stove was a lovely bonus. And the stone walls just give it the countryside feel we need. Also, it was quite easy to use it.

Upstairs, there is a bathroom with an electric shower and heated towel radiator, a twin bedroom, and a double bedroom, both of which have sink units. I thought the bedrooms were quite cosy and quiet for an annexed cottage.

As they are not on mains water and the property is spring-fed. At times we do have discoloured water, which is perfectly safe as it is filtered, and UV treated on the property. We do however provide bottled water if you prefer.

Despite the features of a traditional cottage, the rooms are quite modernised. The property has internet, a TV with Sky, a DVD player (some DVDs are provided), family games, toys and games for younger guests and books all available for our guests.

There are excellent walking and mountain biking trails from the doorstep. It was great to have some relaxing moments enjoying the nice food by the fire.

A beautiful family holiday home offering spacious living space over two floors. The wildlife garden is the perfect place to sit out and enjoy the nice weather of a sunny day or late in the evening and watch the birds, and rabbits and if you are lucky, you might spot a red squirrel. Just lovely!

I can honestly say this is one of the best Airbnbs that we stayed at. Nestled in a peaceful tranquil position down a quiet country lane, this charming spacious, period cottage is perfect for a romantic retreat, to enjoy cosy nights and outdoors activities.
