I don’t think it is something new to be said but, we know cleaning products with chemicals and exchange for environmentally friendly ones are not welcome in the kitchen.

It’s always preferable to use natural ingredients to clean such as baking powder, vinegar, lemon, etc.

To help you out in this task, why not invest in some eco tools such as bamboo brushes and biodegradable sponges? They are durable, biodegradable, and plastic-free.

I don’t know about you, but I rely quite a lot on my old and brand-new cutting boards. They are essential components for kitchens, so why not buy one that is functional and environmentally friendly?

To our luck, we can find quite a lot of sustainable ones like this bamboo wooden chopping board.  Bamboo products are naturally antibacterial. It’s also quite easy to clean and doesn’t absorb liquid easily.

I am not going to lie. I am quite obsessed with food storage in general. But I do understand that sometimes it is quite impossible to avoid plastic ones.

The good news is that we can find eco products with a bit of research online. Nowadays you can go for a glass container to keep the food in the fridge. They use bamboo lids and heat/cold-resistant glass.

You can also use items made of silicone, glass, or metal. For containers without fitted lids, you can opt for bee wax wraps to seal food properly and prevent exposure to air.

They are made in all types of sizes and shapes, with the added benefit of being sustainable and can be washed and reused.

Sustainable Coffee Making

Nowadays there are several ways to make coffee. You can find some way to adapt and at the same time can contribute to the care of the environment.

A great way out is to reuse the coffee powder as an exfoliator for skin or use it as a fertiliser for plants. The cosmetic and dermatological properties act as anti-inflammatory drugs and as antioxidants, which neutralise free radicals, responsible for damaging the skin.

And when it comes to coffee preparation, we can always go for a pour-over coffee maker with stainless steel filter.

If you are a coffee lover too, you should put this product on your Wishlist now. This paperless hand-drip brewer is for sure, one of the most sustainable ways of making coffee.

Do It Yourself

A small pool of herbs at home, besides giving some grace in the decoration of your sustainable kitchen, is also easy to sow in small bowls.

If you have a garden or some free space in the backyard, try building your own vegetable garden with fresh, organic food. I do have a bunch of herbs growing on the window sill of my kitchen, for years, and I think it is also a great way of saving money. Not to mention that it will help you to cook in an eco-friendly manner too.
