Travelling is a state of mind! In addition to the chosen destination, staying in a unique accommodation can greatly improve your experience.
For this reason, I am always looking for quirky places to stay that can be a quite good surprise for me and my readers. Some kinds of accommodation can be different from the standard hotels and guest houses out there.
I was thinking about looking for a place to stay that would give me refinement, comfort, good taste, and a lot of character to maximise the feeling of getting out of the routine and living in the moment.
This time, we headed to Gwynedd, Wales, to stay at Shepherd’s hut for the first time. This newly built cosy (heated) shepherd’s hut is a great countryside retreat for anyone who wishes to escape to a more secluded and quiet site.
Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, our shepherd’s hut has many attractions on its doorstep with spectacular views of Snowdonia and the coast of Caernarfon bay. I have been to Caernarfon before, but that was my first being high up in the area.
The first thing that impressed me was how the photos of the apartment on Airbnb were true and the description of everything was very perfect. The accommodation is exactly like you can see in these photos as well.
The hut is situated in the historical village of Clynnogfawr, centrally located between Pwllheli and Caernarfon.
The stunning beaches on the Llyn Peninsula are only 20 minute drive away.
The hosts were there waiting for us at the agreed time and showed us everything we had to know about the place. We didn’t have a problem understanding how staying in Sheppard’s hut is in practice.
If you enjoy diving, snorkelling, boating, and best of all, doing it all in an ocean as clear as the arrayal, you will enjoy the city’s beaches too much. In addition, there are some impressive accommodations there, those that make any trip even better.
If you are looking for a differentiated experience and would love to stay in a unique location, you will love staying in this accommodation.
One of the great highlights of this place is the privilege of having a direct view of the ocean, where you can see the sunset in the waters.
Inside, the shepherd’s hut is as ergonomic as you could ask for. One sleeps two, the other four, and each has its own en suite luxury bathroom with a powerful shower, sink, and toilet, and a few toiletries provided.
I love the space outside, which is quite private and you can have your breakfast and meals when the weather permits.
There’s a well-equipped kitchen space, complete with an oven and fridge, ample storage, plus – perhaps most impressive of all – under-floor heating! A real godsend if the weather turns all English on you.
The house was made inside a container and inside, the structure is all made of wood. A quite clever spaced hut to accommodate you in a cosy way. The space is only for two guests, perfect for a romantic atmosphere.
The place is beautiful, and the décor is all in wood and well Nordic, great for those who like comfort, charm, and cold weather.
Do you know that perfect romantic place to isolate yourself from your loved one? It’s a perfect match for this Valentine’s Day, by the way.
