South America issues: Yelp is launched in Chile.

YELP LOGO

The company that connects consumers with great local businesses announced the availability of Yelp Chile. Beginning today, people throughout Chile are able to create accounts on Yelp.cl to share their opinions about great local businesses.

“This South American country may be svelte, but it’s actually twice the size of Germany by landmass,” says VP New Markets Miriam Warren.

“From the wind-swept Moai of Easter Island to its territories in Antarctica, Chile is a land of contrasts. Yelp is thrilled to welcome one of the most economically stable and prosperous countries in South America into the fold.”

Yelp continues its expansion across South America with the launch in Chile, the 28th country to start a community of Yelpers that take pride and pleasure in sharing their experiences of local businesses.

The city of Santiago will be the focus of the initial community building efforts and will be home to Chile’s first Yelp Community Manager, but the full-featured site will be available across the country as a whole.

Everyone, everywhere in Chile with access to the Internet on a desktop or a smartphone now has the ability to share their insights on what is good, great and not-so great about local businesses in their neighbourhoods. This can be done in any one of the 15 different languages currently supported by Yelp, and for any business, ranging from bakeries to cocktail bars and locksmiths to food trucks.
